Honestly, just go. Even if Greek yogurt isn't your thing, go.
I am not going to be your mother and say you should go because it is good for you (even though it is). Not going to tell you all about the health benefits of eating like this (I'll let Fitness do that).
My job is to tell you where to go because the ambiance is great, the location is interesting, the service is good, and because the food is great.
I would not be doing my job if I did not tell you to go to Greecologies.
Greecologies is this absolutely adorable shop on Broome Street in SoHo. It shares the space with some serious foodie contenders (Seamore's, Happy Bones, etc.), but it is not to be missed. The majority of the menu is dedicated to Greek yogurt, but there is quite a bit to be enjoyed.
If you are heading for lunch, I've heard the spanakopita and soups are delicious. There are also quite a few grocery items that are for purchase around the store. The thyme & flower honey is one of the most beautiful flavors. You are going to want it on your yogurt...and then you'll probably wind up buying some. I mean, life could be worse.
The minimalist decor, all marble everything, chic location, and delicious food makes for a fantastic breakfast spot. It will take a moment; they make each order by hand. They don't have to go to the cows between customers, but your patience there is appreciated. Be a non-New Yorker for five minutes, and chill out.
Their espresso is solid and the matcha was perfectly on point. Elisa and I both had the strained yogurt. I wanted the unstrained, but the seasonal special only came with the other. C'est la vie.
Elisa piled hers with rose petal preserves (yes, that is as good as it sounds), blueberries, and strawberries. I had the seasonal special of dried figs, walnuts, chia, and honey. Let's just say both of us were unbelievably happy.
The yogurt is perfectly tart, the produce is fresh, and the flavors are fantastic. Ditch your froyo run next time, and head down to Greecologies. There isn't a chance you'll regret it.
